Flowter Chainwash
€24,95
Avoid dirty hands and clean your chain more thoroughly with the Flowter Chainwash. Normal cleaning brushes make it harder to reach the small openings of the chain, something this device from Flowter has no trouble with. The brushes in the cleaner treat the chain just as completely as they do at the car wash, ensuring you stay nice and dry and clean.Developed by Flowter, the operation of this device has brushes that treat the chain from all sides. The casing is made of transparent ABS plastic so you can keep a good overview of the process. The handle provided makes it easy to get the chain through the device.
Roadmap for Cleaning a Bike Chain:
- Preparation
- Gather all supplies: detergent, chain cleaner, cloths, soap and water, an apron, and gloves.
- Protect the workplace.
- Indoors: put down an apron and use gloves if necessary.
- Outside: spray water on the ground to make cleaning up oil and dirt easier.
- Check the Chain
- Check the chain for wear with a chain wear gauge.
- Place the bike in a repair stand or make sure the bike is firmly down.
- Set the chain in the smallest sprocket front and rear.
- Cleaning the chain
- Attach the chain cleaner to the lower part of the chain.
- Fill the Chainwash with about 3 tablespoons of detergent.
- Slowly turn the pedals backwards for at least 30 revolutions (Make sure the chain does not lock by positioning the Chainwash straight. This may be stiff at first, but you will soon get the hang of it).
- Remove and rinse the chainwash and fill it again with detergent.
- Repeat the process of installing chain cleaner and running the chain through it until the chain is thoroughly rinsed.
- Cleaning the other drive components
- While cleaning the chain, also clean other drivetrain components such as the cassette and chainrings with the Scorpio brush.
- Drying the Chain
- Dry the chain by running it through a clean, dry cloth.
- Lubricating the Chain
- Apply chain lubricant to each link of the chain.
- Take a clean, dry cloth and wipe off excess lubricant by turning the chain backwards.
- Finish
- Reinstall the wheel.
- Check that the chain is well lubricated and clean.
- Maintenance frequency
- Clean the bike chain thoroughly about once a month if you cycle regularly.
