Flowter’s bicycle suspension systems are unique. Using thoughtful designs, the systems can take different positions. Thus, the system adapts to your bike and space and nothing of space is lost. But, Flowter is more than that and we explain that here.
Who is Flowter?

My name is Mika. An MTB’er with a background in product development through the Bachelor of science in ‘Industrial Design Engineering’.
Flowter’s mission:
Provide responsible solutions for cyclists.
To explain how this came about, I’ll take you through the timeline.
Problem: Lost space due to bikes in the house
The bike collection, like many, did not stop at just one. Before you knew it
the rooms were full.
Another problem: Shortage of responsible cycling products
This hobby involves more than just a bike. This is not a bad thing because gear is also needed to pursue the hobby, but we found that there are few companies that responsibly look at the bigger picture.
Forming a mission
It started with the bikes that were in the way at home. How to hang these bikes in the most space-efficient way possible? Once this idea started to take shape, we started thinking about the implementation. This had to be responsible.
How do you currently see this reflected in the product?
The most responsible choices have been carefully considered on all fronts. The product is made and assembled in the Netherlands, with small parts such as screws being imported from outside the EU. The use of heavy steel results in high emissions during transport, which is why we opted for a production process in the Netherlands. Besides the steelwork, the product consists of other components, including plugs, fasteners, rubber protective parts and, of course, packaging material. For all the material, quality is number one. For example, the installation material includes custom-made screws and fischer plugs. Recently, we made a positive change by no longer using plastic for packaging. The box, material bags, and even the custom-made inlay in the box are now all made of cardboard.

The mission and the problem led to an idea
The acute problem of losing space due to the bikes at my house was solved with a prototype. It started with the vision for the product. Based on this, we started developing a product. It started with some lines on paper and then moved on to the saw.

The prototype
The idea behind it is the same as the current system, only the implementation is different. By putting the Pedal Bearing part without bolts or nuts in another step, the bike could be moved closer and further from the wall. This worked, but not well enough. Unfortunately, this system was not safe enough because the Pedal Bearing part was loose in the step.
Product purpose: A suspension bracket that saves as much space as possible and can efficiently carry any bicycle

This is how it came in, still completely bare with no powder coat layer. Once on the wall, the bike was hung and we drew the conclusion that this is the right direction.
